I’m always trying to figure out ways to speed things up, use end bits, have fun with the kids doing something. This last week I figured I’d try Peanut Butter and Jelly sticks – the kids like PBJ, and maybe I could do something interesting with them; make it easier to do a PBJ roll sandwich?

I picked up a “water bottle ice maker” silicone mold to give it a shot. The results were … interesting. The Peanut Butter shaped and froze well, but the Jelly did not. Images beneath the fold.

Peanut Butter stick about 3 min out of the freezer.

I keep forgetting I live in a Tropical Paradise here at Cabbage Pond. The PB was mush in just a few minutes but still delicious.

So, not much of an easy-kid activity or time saver. Unless you’re making, oh, I don’t know, ice cream cake or cupcakes – make shapes of peanut butter in your silicone ice/gelatin mold, layer in your crumbles of “cake”, insert frozen PB into the crumbles, top with ice cream, then freeze before serving.
