Did that rat see his shadow or something?

Because Winter certainly has not abated here.
Germ Storm 2007: Just when I think I’m out, they pull me back in.
I so wanted to post yesterday how we are all getting better. Pink eye - gone. Virus - gone. Kids weighed and measured; but generally getting back to normal.
Except … for a small cough from the girl, turning into a little cold. Poor pud. And I’ve got it again, too. No rest for the wicked - I must work on being more wicked to earn this. At least I’ve found a new cure for the cough that is nursing safe - dark chocolate.
Not even sure how I found it online, but apparently some groups have studied the effects of dark chocolate on coughs and found that a dose of 50 grams (a bit less than two ounces, so likely 3/4 of a candy bar) works to suppress the cough reflex. So I’ll hit up a drug store later this morning and see what they’ve got. I’m not a big fan of the sugary “chocolate” commonly sold in the US, but if it works, it works. Maybe I’ll see about finding a shop that brings in the good stuff, if it comes to that.
But aside from recovering from the innumerable winter colds, it’s been busy here. Last week saw the kids combining a snow day (down here, the snow is trucked in), pizza party, and Valentines - I’m surprised they got any sleep at all that night for all the sugar. We also squeezed in school pictures recently; I can’t wait to see the kids all shiny and smiling together. :)
Other than that, just boring old growing by leaps and bounds. Wolfie discovered that his sister loves balloons. She will laugh and laugh if they are near. She also appreciates thoughtful design. When given a choice of remote controls, she’ll pick the TIVO remote every time. Sure, the other remote is fine for chewing up (once - and not again) but the TIVO remote is sooo shiny. Time to start baby proofing again.
Ah well, time to catch some zzzzs before we really need to get going for the day.
[…] so quiet lately; I had grand plans to actually write that have been knocked about by four weeks of Super Virus Pinball 2008 at home. First one kid, then the other, bringing and sharing coughs and sniffles and other viral […]
