Wolfie has turned the corner. He’s been back at school fulltime a few days now, though not without reluctance and some tears. But the cough is nearly gone and we’ve just about got the routine down with the nebulizer - just in time to put it back away.

Helvetica has a bit of the sniffles, but she’s bright eyed and cheery as ever. Rolling back to front quite a bit, occasionally from front to back. Eagerly reaching for our fingers and pulling herself up, content to balance standing a little, and just moving everywhere. This isn’t too much of a surprise; while she was a content little thing before she was born, she’s been scooting around since day one, moving from the foot to the head of the basinette in nothing flat.

We’re working with Wolfie - teaching him how to express his needs to us. Sometimes it’s a quick hug or kiss, sometimes it’s a break from an overwhelming situation in a quiet corner. Moving back to daycare full time has taken a bit more to get used to, though he doesn’t seem to be having any problems specifically with daycare. I think he’s getting used to expressing the desire for change, even if he doesn’t really have that desire. Maybe he’s just exploring the potential?

As part of the transition back, however, I am, this week making, with his help, (apparently you can’t have too many commas) a new blanket and pillow for his naptimes at the little red schoolhouse. I did a search online for fabric in case he requested another “Wolfie blanket” (he’s got a blanket that belonged to his father with Wolves on it), but shopping in my closet yielded a few winners without venturing into Wolf territory. As it stands, he’ll have a buggy pillow (bees and Miss Spider characters), and a monster blanket (I picked up some cute monster-themed flannel in St Louis last year) with a fleece inner core and waffle-weave backing.

Helvetica’s been good rolling with all of these changes, being pretty young yet, though she did miss having her brother in the car last week, fussing on the rides he did not join her on.
