“Wolfie, take off your pants, turn them around so the pockets are in the front, and put them on again, please.”
“Okay, mommy.”
(removes pants)
“I’m going to show you a magic trick.”
(hides hand in crumpled pants on the floor)
“Abraca-presto!”
(pulls hand out of pants, displays empty, cupped hand)
“Ta-da! A bunny rabbit!”
“Wow! That is magic! Now put your pants on, please.”
“I can’t put on my pants. They’re full of bunnies.”
“Maybe if you put your legs in the top, they’ll scurry out the bottom.”
“Okay.”
(considers his options, shakes his pants a little)
“Look, look! The bunnies are running away!”
“Oh, great! Quick, put your pants on before they come back!”
“Okay.”
(several tries that finally result in one sock off and pants on, forwards, although it is a kick to watch him put his hands in his pants when they are on backwards and use his hands in his pockets to pull the pants down)
“Okay, hon, now go put your shoes on by the front door so we can get going.”
“Today is no sock day, because I’m a cowboy!”
